      The mission of Foster360 is to resolve the crisis facing kids aging out of foster care. According to the Jim Casey Report on Youth Aging Out of the System, more than 70% will end up homeless, incarcerated, prostituted, or dead. We are leading a grassroots effort to bring awareness to this tragedy and engaging the community to gather the resources necessary to give these kids a fighting chance at success.
      Foster360 provides youth in foster care (Age 14 and older) with a Personal Navigator whose first and primary job is to build a loving and trustworthy relationship with the child. Our Navigators know that this is no easy task because the vast majority suffer from chronic trauma. Trauma that gives rise to a host of learning and behavioral challenges. However, once the children feel safe and begin asking questions, our Navigators assist them in problem solving and setting meaningful personal goals. We then connect them with the larger community of resources and services available to kids in care, from matching savings programs to scholarships programs. Lastly, and just as important, our Navigators then coordinate the efforts of the entire team working with the child.
      Our Navigators are part advocate, part coach, and part navigation expert; who’s main job is assisting our young charges to develop agency, which is the capacity and propensity to take purposeful initiative—the opposite of helplessness. Young people with high levels of agency do not respond passively to their circumstances; they tend to seek meaning and act with purpose to achieve the conditions the
