Jacob’s Hope is a clinic for newborns who are suffering with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, or withdrawals from pre-natal exposure to drugs. Their medically nurturing facility cares for these infants while the drugs leave their systems. They love and care for these babies in a home-like environment until they are ready for a more permanent home, either in a relative placement or foster care.
The State of Arizona, as well as the rest of the nation, is in a crisis. Drug abuse and exposure to illicit substances is rampant and spiraling out of control. Statistics show that over 8,000 infants are born Substance Exposed each year and of those, 800 are struggling with withdrawals or Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. They are the innocent victims of drugs in our society. The impact on these young lives is catastrophic and to no fault of their own. Along with the tragic and life-changing symptoms that these infants endure, the cost to the state is astronomical. These babies have no place to go as they work through withdrawals and are being placed in the hospitals neonatal ICU’s at a cost of around $3,600 per day. Jacob's Hope will provide specifically focused care for these infants at a significantly lower cost to state taxpayers.
Their mission is to:
• Provide medical and behavioral treatments to these newborns who are experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
• Reduce the costs for providing interim care these babies.
• Work hand in hand with DCS, DHS, and other state healthcare agencies
• To train parents and caregivers in infant care
