Real Estate Brokerage Helps AZ Foster Youth Feel at Home this Holiday Season
Mesa-based KOR Properties seeks partners in charity Christmas stocking drive

[November, 2019 – Mesa, Az] This November, Helen’s Hope Chest and KOR Properties are working together to collect Christmas stockings filled with gifts for 3,000 youth in foster care and need the community’s help to achieve this lofty goal. Foster and kinship families of Arizona who open their homes to children in need do the incredible work of offering a safe place for the child to sleep, but often struggle to afford other simple luxuries. Individuals, social groups, and employers are invited to participate in this special donation drive until December 2nd, 2019 to help make the holidays exceptional for local children and teens in foster care.

Helen’s Hope Chest (HHC) is a non-profit organization that provides clothing and other basic needs to more than 650 foster children each month. Since 2015, HHC has been hosting a holiday toy drive called JaKelle’s Christmas Box which serves more than 3,000 children each year - providing them each with a bundle of age-appropriate gifts, stuffed animals, books, stocking stuffers, and more. Throughout the week-long distribution event in December, caregivers shop through our free pop-up toy store - which has been described as the “North Pole of the Desert” - to hand pick items they know the children in their care will love.

KOR Properties has been supporting the JaKelle’s Christmas Box toy drive for the past four years by recruiting friends, clients, and businesses to contribute stockings filled with candy, small toys, art supplies, and other small gifts. This year, KOR Properties is bringing this project to the entire community with the goal of providing a stocking for every child that attends JaKelle’s Christmas Box.

“When we founded KOR Properties, we wanted to create a project that would support the children in our community. We were grateful to connect with Helen’s Hope Chest and designed the Santa’s Helpers Stocking Drive so that anyone could participate at any age,” said Natascha Ovando-Karadsheh, Owner and Associate Broker of KOR Properties. “It is a great project to do with friends and I think everyone enjoys making the stockings as much as the children enjoy receiving them,” said Ovando-Karadsheh.

Those who wish to participate before the deadline of 12/2/2019 can sign up to contribute stockings, get more information such as gift guidelines and drop-off instructions, or make a financial contribution by visiting www.helenshopechest.org.
