NEWS RELEASE

May 23, 2023

The Mesa Veterans Program of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2023 edition of the Hometown Heroes Banner Program in Downtown Mesa. Sponsored by CMC Steel and the Mesa Chamber Business in Education Foundation and supported by the City of Mesa Community Services Department and the Downtown Mesa Association, the Mesa Veterans Program coordinates the applications and display for dozens of banners in Downtown Mesa twice a year for 2 weeks each in May/June and November. Families, friends, and community members interested in learning more about our featured Veterans can conduct their own walking tour of Downtown Mesa. We invite you to join us in meeting and honoring our many hometown heroes whose name, branch, and years of service are proudly displayed on each colorful banner.

The May display period opens Friday, May 26th at 8am with an informal unveiling of the current banners. Those interested in attending are invited to meet at the Northwest corner of Center Street and Main Street, to officially open the display period. Speaking for the opening will be Mesa Chamber of Commerce CEO Sally Harrison, Mesa Veterans Program Chair and Senior Office for the Disabled American Veterans East Valley Chapter 8 Dr. Carl Forkner and other dignitaries.

The display will be available for two weeks following the Memorial Day Holiday. A guide map of the entire banner display will be available at the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Mesa Association, local businesses and on the MesaVeteransProgram.com website.
