The Government Affairs Committee met this past Friday, February 16, with updates from the Mesa Police Department.

A special thank you to Investigations Chief, Lee Rankin, and his team for their informative updates on community safety. Lee covered the current issue of teen violence in surrounding areas and outlined the preventive measures being taken by the Mesa Police Department to ensure community safety.

Additionally, Lee discussed the impact of technology in investigations, including street cameras, officer Axon body cameras, and drones. He highlighted the significance of the Real Time Crime Center, which has played a crucial role in solving 13 of the last homicides.

After the presentation, Dorn Policy Group shared legislative updates with the committee. This covered details on Prop 409 Regional Transportation Tax, road project updates, a brief on a new Mesa legislator, and other pertinent information. Thank you to Eric Emmert and his team at Dorn Policy Group for providing these monthly legislative updates.
