Mesa Veterans Program: May 2025 Recap

The Mesa Veterans Program Committee convened in May to share updates and highlight upcoming events from both committee members and the Mesa Chamber of Commerce.

The Southwest Veterans Foundation proudly announced its 10th Annual Patriots Ball, which this year will pay special tribute to Vietnam Veterans. Registration is now open for those interested in attending or getting involved.

The committee also heard from Deep Sea Valkyries, who shared exciting news about their upcoming retreat, Operation Neptune Spear. Now in its tenth year, the retreat offers veterans and first responders an immersive, healing experience. Participants engage in unique therapeutic activities and counseling aboard live-aboard ships, helping to promote emotional and physical recovery. More than just a retreat, the program fosters a strong sense of community—giving attendees the opportunity to connect with others who have served and to rediscover meaning and beauty in life.

In addition to member updates, the Mesa Chamber of Commerce reminded the committee to save the date for the upcoming Health and Wellness Fair on October 8. Additional details will be shared soon, including opportunities for sponsorships, tabletop displays, and other ways to get involved. Chamber Staff Liaison Mayra noted that the event aims to showcase a variety of health-related resources—including veteran health services.

The committee also discussed the recent Mesa Hometown Heroes Banner Program Display Kickoff, which took place on Friday, May 23, at the Mesa Chamber. The event marked the official launch of the banner display honoring local service members, which will remain on display through June 16. Visitors can learn more about each honored service member and view display maps at mesaveteransprogram.com.

To conclude the meeting, committee members joined together to sort and organize the banners.
