Small Business Strategy & Development Committee: June 2025 Recap

In June, the Small Business Strategy and Development Committee welcomed Andrew Hamilton, Occupational Program Director for the Accounting Department at Mesa Community College.

Andrew discussed the importance of understanding accounting principles as small business owners, including basic bookkeeping skills, financial statements, and inventory management. Furthermore, he mentioned a couple of classes that Mesa Community College offers, which small business owners can enroll in and sign up for.

Accounting Principles I (ACC111) is the introductory course to financial accounting, covering the fundamental theory of accounting principles and procedures. Computerized Accounting (ACC115) is an online course that covers accounting information systems, including the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
