Meet the Member: Sports Academy, LLC
Sports Academy Arizona is the performance training center at Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa. They train athletes at every level, from youth and high school athletes to college teams to pro athletes getting ready for the NFL Draft. Our 50,000 square foot facility has a Performance Center with 75 yards of indoor turf, an 80 yard track, a 30-yard indoor speed hill and a 16 rack weight room. They also have a membership based Fitness and Recovery Center for adults & parents with cold plunge, cryo, sauna and compression. Their coaches build programs around each athlete's sport, goals and testing data. Across the country, Sports Academy operates sites in Texas, California, Arizona, Minnesota and Tennessee, and Mesa is one of our newest homes.
What sets this company apart?
Every athlete who walks in gets the same system our pro athletes train under. They test athletes with force plates and speed timing, track their progress, and adjust their training from what the numbers show. Training, recovery and nutrition all happen under one roof, so athletes aren't piecing it together from three different places. Their location matters too. Being on a 275-acre sports campus means they're right next to the tournaments, teams and events that bring athletes and families to Mesa.
How has your company grown and developed?
Sports Academy started with basketball & performance training in California and grew into a multi-state network. The Arizona expansion at AAG is one of our biggest steps so far, and some of their team relocated from Texas to help build it. Since opening in Mesa, they have built partnerships with local schools, colleges and club programs like Park University, NEWS Point and Arsenal Soccer. They have also launched an NFL Pre-Draft training program and hosted the Pro Lounge for the PPA Tour's Veolia Arizona Open. Where unique is range. A 12-year-old soccer player, a pro athlete, and parents can train in the same building with the same level of coaching.
What are you most excited about when joining the Chamber?
We're excited to get more connected with the businesses and families that make up this community. There's a lot of opportunities to work together in Mesa, whether that's local schools, youth sports organizations, hotels and restaurants serving visiting teams, or businesses looking for wellness options for their employees. We want Mesa athletes to know they have a world-class training option right in their backyard. We also want to be a partner that helps bring more sports events and visitors to the area.
