Meta Donates Ray-Ban AI  Glasses to Blind Veterans Nationwide

Meta is donating Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to every blind veteran in America - an estimated 130,000 people - and provide the training needed to effectively use them for accessibility purposes. It's the largest device donation in Meta's history.

Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses are already helping blind and low-vision veterans reclaim their independence. These glasses use AI to read text aloud, describe surroundings, identify objects, and help veterans navigate daily life with greater autonomy. For these users, AI glasses aren't a novelty — they're a necessity.

How Veterans Receive Their Glasses

Eligible veterans can request their pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses through bva.org/glasses. Veteran organizations seeking to help their members or other eligible blinded veterans receive glasses can apply through TechSoup.

Training & Support

Every pair of glasses includes access to training resources designed to help veterans use them effectively. Training covers how their glasses can identify objects, read text, and manage everyday tasks using only their voice — a step change in daily independence.

Available resources include:

  • Monthly webinars: The Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) hosts monthly live webinars in partnership with TechSoup, where veterans can ask questions and receive real-time troubleshooting support.
  • In-person events: Meta and partner organizations host events across the country where veterans can receive their glasses, get hands-on guidance from trained staff, and connect with other participants in the program.
  • BVA Training Guide: BVA has developed a training guide specifically for blind and low-vision veterans that covers activating voice commands, reading documents, answering phone calls, and navigating daily tasks with greater autonomy.
