Normally, we would share this information on Social Media as a quick message. However, given the amount of information included, we decided instead to share the letter from Maricopa Community Colleges Chancellor Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D.
as a blog post, for you to review and access at a later time. For additional Information, you can access the Press Page at Maricopa Community Colleges.

    Dear Maricopa,
As our Strategic Commitments and transformation of Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) progresses, we are now prepared to extend invitations to all qualified candidates who are able to provide outstanding leadership to four of our 10 colleges. The college President is a critical member of the Executive Council, demonstrating leadership and management skills within each unique college as part of the MCCCD system.
I will be leading the national search for effective, innovative leaders with the ability to strengthen each local college and engage the community. With collaboration and input from the college, we will search for leaders who can successfully execute services and programs to further the District’s 2017-2020 Strategic Plan to:
    •          Build a thriving community through student success
    •          Be recognized as a leading innovator among institutions of higher learning in the nation
    •          Be a driving force for economic and workforce development in Arizona
We have selected Association of Community College Trustees, the only national non-profit organization with expertise serving community colleges and Governing Boards in all phases of community college executive searches, to conduct the search.
We will be conducting each of the four searches simultaneously to identify four outstanding Presidents for the upcoming college presidential openings at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Glendale Community College, Mesa Community College, and Phoenix College.
Although the same search process and steps will be used for each college, there will be four distinct search committees; four individual college-based discovery forums for input, a profile customized to identify the local challenges or opportunities; four college websites; four candidate pools; and four college-based forums to meet the finalists. Discovery forums—open to the public and for staff engagement and input—are set for:
    September 25, 2017
    •  Glendale Community College/SU-104D, SU-104E: 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
    •  Phoenix College/Hacienda Room: 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
    September 26, 2017
    •  Mesa Community College/Navajo Room:  9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
    •  Chandler-Gilbert Community College/SC 140: 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Each position profile and search will honor the unique aspects of the college, while recognizing its role as part of an integrated, and innovative academic system. Conducting the searches simultaneously will leverage and strengthen the visibility and positioning of MCCCD in the local and national employment marketplace.
I cordially request your help to identify committee members for consideration. Membership of the search committee will reflect the diversity of each institution and the surrounding communities. I invite you to nominate individuals who have demonstrated a positive and notable commitment to support our mission of access and student and employee success. Each committee and committee member will serve a critical role that requires a time commitment, engagement, objectivity, and confidentiality.
Nominations can be submitted to vc.hr@domail.maricopa.edu. by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017.  If you have questions, please submit them to AskHR.
Thank you for your help with this very important endeavor for the success of these colleges and the Maricopa Community Colleges.
    Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D.
